FUO NUGA GAMES PREPARATIONS
Sports and Recreation Unit of Federal University Otuoke has intensified
efforts to ensure the Institution qualifies for the NUGA preliminaries
coming up soon.
A build up trail competition was organised by the unit for student
athletes in order to select the best representatives for the NUGA zonal
preliminaries.
Speaking before commencement of the trials, Head Sports and Recreation
Unit, Mrs. Helen Wokoro thanked the students for attending the trail,
and encouraged them to put in their best so that they will be selected
to represent the University and win trophies at the NUGA competition
later this year.
Mrs Wokoro said the best 3 athletes will be selected from the
respective categories, she also advised that discipline must be
displayed on and off the field.
The two day activity featured track and field events.
The 100 metres males had Ahere Collins recording the highest score
under 10.07sec and 100 metres female had Imogu Emonena with the highest
score at 11. 82 sec
Other highest scorers in other categories are:
- 200m Male - Ahere Collins – 20.95sec.
- 200m Female - Imogu Emonena – 25.63sec
- 300m Male – Ajiboro Emmanuel – 33.16sec
- High Jump Male – Vincent Malla – 1.75H
- High Jump Female – Mesie Martha – 1.34H
- Long Jump Male – Orakwe Harmilton – 6.55m
- Long Jump Female – Imogu Emonena – 5.58m
- Javelin Male – Michael Idongesit – 45.35m
- Javelin Female – Ekaete Sunday – 24.49m
- Discus Male – Obi Ifeanyi – 49.28m
- Discuss Female – Nwachukwu Edith – 33.48m
- Short-put Male – Ogboro Jeremy – 9.35m
- Short-put Female – Nwachukwu Edith – 7.45m
More selection and training continues until the best athletes are
chosen to represent the university at the NUGA zonal preliminaries.
